A bed and breakfast is not just a place to lay your head for the night but an experience in and of itself. Most opt for a B & B rather than a traditional hotel because they want a more personal experience. But what makes a bed and breakfast worth staying in? Here are a couple of things you should look for before you book your reservation.
Warm and Friendly Staff
It doesn’t matter how great the bed and breakfast looks on the inside if the staff is rude, disrespectful and can’t or won’t help you find local activities then you’re trip is effectively ruined. You should check the reviews from other guests that stayed there, you can find reviews on sites like TripAdvisor or even on Google. Bear in mind that no business can please everyone, but look at whether guests were willing to return or not and whether they were pleased or not with the staff.
Location, Location, Location
Location and proximity to other cool things to do are one of the things that drive the hospitality industry. That’s why there are so many hotels around airports and convention centers. Bed and breakfast inns are a little different, you want them to be near things to do. A B&B is not where business people stay it is where couples and tourists stay. You want your bed and breakfast near restaurants and other cool activities. Let’s say you check into a B & B in Florida, you want to be near the water where you have access to fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling and of course the beach. Those are the kinds of things that couples get excited about.
What Makes it Unique
A B & B is priced a little higher than a budget hotel and it is less expensive than a business hotel. Pricing aside it is far different from either of those, it is far more personal and many couples come here because it is romantic. In many ways it feels more like a comfortable home, filled with unique art and it has a local feel blending into the surroundings.
You will find some B & B’s that only provide a continental breakfast, essentially coffee and some pastries other offer up some incredible meals. You need to find out first if you have to get your own food or what the B & B will provide. Inns that provide food can offer up some delicious home cooked fare.
